Short codes are a struggle – mainly because it is very difficult for us to give parents a knob to block them. I have by no means given up on these, but allowing them openly is difficult because short codes are often used for services not appropriate for kids. Ideally, we would filter the short codes and give people 3 knobs – 1) No Short Codes, 2) All Short Codes OK, 3) Subset of Kid-centric Short Codes OK for the particular account.

Picture messaging enhancements are coming – but they won’t make it into our development roadmap before our holiday freeze so please stay tuned! We do support intercarrier picture messaging (sending and receiving from other carriers) so if you ever see issues with this please email care@kajeet.com with the name of the carrier and the issue you are experiencing.

We are making web access changes and will be expanding the Surfing options available. This was time consuming as infrastructure changes were required. I do hope this makes it in before our holiday freeze. We will send an email to all customers and I will blog here about these new options when they become available.

Got a few more feature suggestions:
– interoperability with short codes. I haven’t seen one that works yet on Kajeet. This is useful for things like airline sites, google & sites that require authentication via mobile phone (Facebook).
– standard implementation of MMS. Currently, picture messages are sent as web links to a site that displays the picture. This stinks if you’re trying to send pictures to another handset. Also it won’t work with sites like Flickr. I also have yet to see a picture message received from another carrier – don’t know if this is by design or not.

Hello I Love the idea of surfing. I Use kajeet as my phone server and would love to see email be an option. And also websites such as , webkinz, ty, and other kids safe websites would be a great option. Thanks! Lizzy

Hello. It would also be nice if there were more apps instead of the just one. I’m a huge myspace/facebook/twitter fan, and it would be great to have those apps! Or access to the sites (with the parental option to disable/enable it) Or at least allow the phones to receive and send text updates.

Hi Dan,

Thanks for the feedback. I think you have been sitting in on our product meetings! We do want to open up the web with the default being restricted sites and an option being more open web access that could be turned on via Feature Manager. Email access is a part of that so stay tuned for both of these features. I don’t have a time frame for this yet as we need to develop the parental controls portion of the access – but I’ll blog here with an update when these plans get firmed up.

Hi. It was a pleasant surprise to find the new websites available from Kajeet. What would be even better would be the option to allow unrestricted access to any url (via the FeatureManager of course).

While on the subject of requests – how about either 1)an email client on the phone or 2)the gmail mobile app 3)access to just the gmail.com/m site.

Texting is fine for direct contact, but people want to be able to check their regular email too!
