Where Schools Are Headed
August 28, 2012
Schools and teachers know all too well that students love to bring their mobile devices into the classroom. With advents in technology, however, more and more educational institutions are using this fact to their advantages.
This article in the Technology section of Newsday voices a paradigm shift in the world of education: America’s schools, the perennial victims of budget cuts, want to immerse their students and faculty in the online-learning revolution, but don’t necessarily have the money to buy every student a mobile device; many are starting to ask students to bring their own devices to school instead. This strategy, the article affirms, has proven to be engaging for the kids and not as cumbersome as some worried it might be.
The concept of mobile devices in the educational sphere raises myriad questions about appropriate use, safety, and security — that’s where kajeet comes in! Kajeet School Guard™ is the first free online tool that allows Bring-Your-Own-Device institutions to manage Internet access in the classroom. Parents assign their kid’s affordable kajeet device to a filtering group customized by their local educational system, which takes effect during school hours. Learn more here!

August 7, 2012
Kajeet supports DC SCORES, one of the largest development organizations in Washington DC, to provide free soccer and arts camps for local kids. The 2012 Couch to Camp program has given approximately 200 kids the opportunity to attend summer camp for free!
On July 26, the kajeet staff had the privilege of spending a whole day with the awesome kids and counselors from DC SCORES. We kicked off the day with an educational scavenger hunt inside the National Gallery of Art and then worked our way over to the National Mall for some pick-up soccer! Check out these pictures from the outing and see what kajeet is all about!
